Things You Might Not Know About Me #5| El Dorado Hills Photographer

Happy Monday!  I have had a lot of new followers lately on Instagram and Facebook, so I thought it would be fun to do a post on a few things about me that you probably don’t know!  So first up, is our Valentine’s Story.

#5: My Hubby Proposed on Valentine’s Day

5 things I bet you didn't know about me - sharing a bit about my story and when my husband proposed!

Our proposal story is pretty funny because I had every emotion possible going on during our first Valentine’s Day!  We were dating long distance – I was in Southern California and he was in San Luis Obispo.  We were both high school math teachers and every morning on my way to work we would talk on the phone (this was before it was illegal to be on your cell in the car).  So the morning of Valentine’s Day I was extra excited to talk with him, hoping he would be extra sweet.  Well, I called and he didn’t answer.  I called again, no answer.  I left a sweet message, but he didn’t call back.  I got to school and he didn’t text or call me.  All of my students kept asking what he had done, did he send me flowers, get me something special?  And I kept having to say no, I haven’t even talked with him!  I was disappointed to say the least. But after a few periods and I still hadn’t heard anything from him, I started to get mad at him – I’m sure you girls can understand this!! After lunch, I still hadn’t heard from him, so then I started to get worried – this was so out of character, something must have happened to him! Should I call the school to make sure he is ok?? And on and on my thoughts went!

Then in the class after lunch, in he walks with a dozen red roses in front of my entire class.  All the students started “oohhing and ahhing” and I got so flustered I didn’t even know what to say.  Then after I hugged him, I turned to him and said “Did you get a sub?”  Really smooth.  Hahaha!!  So he said he would be back after my next class to pick me up.  He took me to the beach where we had our first date.  He had a sweet little note in a bottle that told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. And then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry me. Of course I said yes!!

I found out that he was waiting on my ring that morning that he had designed.  He didn’t want to call me because he didn’t know for sure if the ring would arrive on time and he didn’t want to spoil the surprise.  He was so sneaky! And he had already asked my parents for their approval a few weeks before, which I had no clue about!!

I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal, and it is a story that we cherish on Valentine’s Day! I love him so much!  And 10 years later, here is our little family on Valentine’s Day.
